Anesthesiology

During a procedure, the anesthesiologist cares for the patient’s vital signs that include respiration, brain and heart function, circulation, kidney function and other important body processes. Anesthesia is administered to prevent and treat pain and relax muscles during surgery to facilitate an easier procedure and faster recovery.

After surgery, the anesthesiologist provides post-operative pain medication and assesses the patient’s degree of pain or discomfort while in recovery.

Because an independent physician group that bills their services directly covers Good Samaritan’s anesthesiology services, it is advisable to check with your physician and health care provider regarding coverage prior to surgery.
