Meet Our Physicians - Weight Loss/Bariatric Surgery

CussattiEdward H. Cussatti, MD, Director of Bariatric Surgery

Dr. Cussatti is the medical director of bariatric surgery and a board certified general surgeon, specializing in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.  He completed his general surgery residency at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2002 and his fellowship training in bariatrics and laparoscopic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003.  He is in private practice in general as well as advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery in West Islip and is an attending surgeon at Good Samaritan. A member of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Cussatti also belongs to the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, as well as the  American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.  He has performed more than 800 bariatric procedures, including single incision laparoscopic options, which are available for certain patients.

 

 

 

 

BridgesFiras Bridges, MD

Dr. Bridges is a graduate of Ross University. He completed his residency at Danbury Hospital in Conneticut.  He continued his education with a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Bridges has six years experience in minimally invasive bariatric surgery.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr.LeeWay H. Lee, MD

Dr. Lee performs bariatric surgery, general surgery and complex advanced laparoscopic surgery.  He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2000 and completed his residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.  Dr. Lee studied under worldrenowned surgeon Steven Lowry, MD, and also completed a laparoscopic and bariatric surgery fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in 2006.
Since then, he has performed more than 300 complex bariatric cases.  He was trained under Michel Gagne, MD, who is considered the “father of bariatric surgery.” Dr. Lee is board certifi ed in general surgery and is an attending surgeon at Good Samaritan.  He performs laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, complex advanced laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and, for certain patients, bilio-pancreatic diversion.
