Hematology and Oncology

Physicians in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Good Samaritan are dedicated to the treatment and well being of patients with cancer and blood related diseases.

Oncologists specialize in the treatment of tumor related cancers. Good Samaritan offers specialized treatment for cancers that affect various organs and body systems. Included among these forms of cancer are bone, breast, lung, colon, stomach, pancreatic, kidney, brain, liver and soft tissue cancer.

Hematologists specialize in the treatment of disorders of the blood and blood forming tissues. Hematologists treat cancers such as leukemia, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Hematologists also treat patients with other blood related medical conditions such as anemia, hemophilia and various blood cell anomalies.

Comprehensive patient care includes support services for the psychosocial needs of patients and their families while undergoing treatment. These services are provided by physicians, nurses, counselors and social workers all working as a team to provide the medical and emotional support so critical to a successful treatment.
