Two weeks after having gastric sleeve surgery, 26-year old Elyse Capozza already feels like a new woman. She credits her new outlook to her surgeon Jonathan Klonsky, MD, and the support groups she attended at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. It was a six month process of dieting, tests and dealing with insurance issues before being cleared for surgery. Ms. Capozza’s surgery went very well and she has already lost 20 pounds.
“I feel amazing! Having bariatric surgery was the best decision I ever made,” said Ms. Capozza. “I am so much happier already and I am looking forward to living a healthier life.”
Following two days in the hospital she was home walking everyday. The first few weeks she will be on a liquid diet and then transition to solid foods. She has already attended a bariatric support group at Good Samaritan and is adjusting to her new eating habits.
“I am no longer driven by hunger,” said Ms. Capozza. “I am learning how to eat again.”
