| Good Samaritan Hospital Appoints Clinical Director of Dialysis Services |

Jewell Smith, MBA, BSN, RN, has been appointed Clinical Director of Dialysis Services for Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. She brings extensive expertise in both chronic and acute dialysis. She succeeds Patricia Hansen, RN, who retired after 40 years of service to the organization. A native of New Orleans, LA, Jewell earned a bachelor’s in accounting from Dillard University with honors. After 15 years in the accounting field, she earned a bachelor’s degree of science in nursing from Langston University in Oklahoma with honors. Her educational background also includes earning her master’s of business administration from the University of Phoenix. She has worked for two large dialysis organizations, DaVita and Fresenius Medical Care where she ran successful outpatient programs. She was recruited by New York Health and Hospitals Corporation in 2006 where she was the administrator of the acute programs for Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. Most recently, she served as the administrator for the chronic and acute programs at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn. Smith is a member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association and the National Renal Administrators Association. She resides in Jericho with her husband, Nathaniel.
