The Orthopaedic Surgery Department at Good Samaritan is composed of board certified orthopaedic surgeons and their staff members. A full complement of orthopaedic subspecialties are represented, with expertise in the treatment of trauma, total joint replacement, sports medicine, hand surgery and spinal surgery. The orthopaedic service is an integral part of the multi-disciplined trauma team for the treatment of multiple trauma, for both adults and children.
Orthopaedic Procedures The Ambulatory Surgical Unit allows the orthopaedic staff the ability to perform multiple types of arthroscopy (a minimally invasive procedure used to visualize, diagnose and treat some types of joint problems) and other extremity procedures, including a large number of shoulder and knee arthroscopy procedures on an outpatient basis. Approximately 2,500 orthopaedic procedures are performed annually at Good Samaritan. Advanced equipment and instrumentation are available for the treatment of fractures, joint replacements and arthroscopy procedures for sports-related injuries and ligament reconstructions.
